When you’re in pain, you want it fixed.

So you go to a therapist, spend hours talking about it, and sometimes feel better for it.

Sometimes not.

Talk therapy works for some. For others, it just stirs up the trauma, week after week.

You work hard at it because you want to eliminate the unwanted thoughts, fears, and restrictions that are screwing up your ability to be who you truly are. You want to live the life you know you could have.

So you talk about pain and trauma and may have a catharsis.

Or maybe you don’t have a catharsis and feel dark for the next few days, getting over the feeling that talking about it brought up. Eventually, you get back to “normal.” And then it’s therapy day again.

Did it work?

There is a huge difference between learning to cope with your pain and getting rid of it.

Let’s say you had a violent upbringing. You talk about it in therapy, but it doesn’t feel resolved. So you talk about it again.

Maybe your therapist gives you some tools to work around your feelings of rage and betrayal. Well, that’s good. The tools are good. You’re learning to play the hand you were dealt.

But – how do you feel?

How have you been feeling?

Is the pain still there?

Maybe it’s time for a new paradigm.

Energy therapy is different.

Understanding energy blockages…

When trauma occurs, your brain freezes on a particular emotion or scene.

As time goes on, the frozen emotion gets bigger, stronger, and harder to confront.

This emotional scar tissue is a block in your energy. A blockage holds difficult emotions in place, keeping them current… and causing you to react as though the pain of the past were right here and now.

Only energy dissolves energy. Giving the blockage the attention it needs – the energy it needs – allows it to unfreeze.

When it unfreezes, the emotion goes back into perspective. You still have the memory of the traumatic experience, but you have to recall it like any other memory. It no longer pops up unbidden, controlling your actions and reactions.

Identifying blockages…

During our sessions, we’ll talk (sometimes casually but most often pointedly) to identify the emotion causing an energy blockage.

Let’s say, for example, that you are easily angered by criticism. We will talk about it, about how you feel when it is happening, and what is happening around you when it occurs. When I feel an energy surge, we pursue it by talking about it further.

Sometimes it’s necessary to work around the edges instead of going directly to the source. In that case, we talk about things in general. I’ll ask you about your life, and if I feel an energy surge from your answer, we will follow it.

Regardless of what spurs the surge, we always follow the energy. It always takes us where we need to go.

Your subconscious knows what you’re doing. It will lead us to the source as efficiently as it can.

When we find the emotion – the blockage… the incident – we give it the energy required to release its hold on you.

What that looks like in practice is that I direct your attention to the block. We acknowledge that it exists. No force, no trying, no rejection, no resistance – just allowing it to exist.

This can be enough to release it, but often more energy is needed.

I may pull in energy to your chakras (areas of the body known to be centers of energy) and guide you to imagine energy going into one or more chakras. I can tell when this is happening because my chakras mirror yours during the session. I often tell you what I feel or see as the energy releases. Although I say I’m feeling it, it’s really happening in your energy field.

When the energy releases, I often do a lot of yawning. I’m not tired! I’m certainly not bored. It’s just the energy release.

Although I use different tools to create the focused attention required in you for this process, most of it is a meditative state on my part and your part. You don’t have to try to do it. It just happens. Your subconscious does all the work.

We will do nothing that doesn’t feel right and good to you.

There may be tears. There may be a sense of relief. There may be physical sensations. Regardless of how you express the release, you will feel better afterward. Lighter. Less burdened.

In energy therapy, you are not vulnerable to “negative” energy. I know this because energy is neutral, neither good nor bad. Pure energy is just… energy – just as sunlight is sunlight. There is no positive sunlight here and negative sunlight over there. It’s what you do with that light that causes an effect.

By paying attention to an unpleasant memory or emotion, we are not making it stronger; in fact, it’s the opposite: Treating it with energy allows it to dissipate.

I get right to the point.

I will ask you questions about what’s bothering you. Sometimes, we can dive right in and immediately get to the hard stuff. Sometimes we have to uncover layers of experience and scar tissue first.

So we talk. We uncover what is ready to go, and we get the next layer or blockage ready to be seen.

You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to.

I’m entirely nonjudgmental. My only concern is that we release your pain.

We’ll be talking on the phone, so I invite you to be wherever and in whatever position makes you comfortable enough to forget your surroundings for about an hour. I will be alone in my home office or living room.

You can have music on if you’d like. You can also have “sound camouflage” (like a movie in the background) if that’s helpful.

I have a cat who will occasionally vocalize. You might hear her on her exercise wheel. It doesn’t distract me from the deep focus I’ll be in, but if you find it distracting, please let me know.

So, we’ll talk. If you can’t speak directly about what bothers you, we will talk about day-to-day things until I feel a surge. We follow it, work with it, and release it.

Each blockage we release brings us closer to “the big thing.” None of it is wasted.

If you can talk about it directly, I’ll ask questions to help you – answer with as much or as little information as you are comfortable with. I’m looking for energy, so details are not required, but talking about them can help you focus and release.

Since the universe is made up of atoms and the space between them, most of the universe is energy. We will use the energetic and physical universe to refresh and replenish your energy. You will not feel or be depleted in any way after our sessions.

Since you will be working with energy while operating a physical body, a glass of water is helpful; you may get thirsty.

You don’t have to “believe” anything to do this work. 710994403

We are finding the source of your unhappiness, seeing it for what it is, and letting it go. You don’t even have to try to let it go. It goes away automatically when you find it and give it energy (awareness and attention).

We will release blockages in every session.

I use imagery and metaphor. I use stories and examples. There may be some travel in time and space as the story unfolds. Take it as literally or metaphorically as it works for you.

I can only tell you what I see, and I’ll share all of it—because if I hold back, I might not tell you the one thing that matters most to allow the energy to release.

But remember that whatever you have to say supersedes what I’m saying. Sometimes I’m just chatting as I feel around for blockages I know are there but haven’t found. If an image, say, of purple rabbits crosses your mind, tell me. It will likely reveal itself as something else that’s the key to freeing you.
